Enerzone 2.3i - First Fire

Had the new Enerzone 2.3 insert installed yesterday. Looks good and works great. We had the first fire in it last night. Outside low temp was about 37 degrees. It had our 1800 sq ft house at 71 degrees all night with the heat pump shut off. Secondary combustion was working well. Draft was going strong and no smoke in the house. Still a nice bed of coals in the morning burning sugar maple. The controls are easy and the blower seemed to work really well. The only thing at all I wasn't 100% happy with was there seemed to be a lot more ash left than I thought there would be. Overall I am very pleased so far.

I've been burning an Enerzone 2.9 for about 4 years now, and I am still very happy with it. We burnt 12 face cords through it last year, and 10 the previous three years. Just as with all modern stoves, it likes dry wood. I dont usually see too many Enerzone users on hearth, so it's nice to see another!

My neighbor also has the Enerzone 2.9 (them suckers are heavier than they look). Nice stove. Simple, yet seems to be well built. Performs well with dry fuel.
The amount of residual ash can depend on the fuel. Some just seem to leave more ash behind than others (black walnut comes to mind).
And plate steel is the second best material a stove can be made from.
