Englander 25-IP Owners, need reviews

I noted a while back there were a couple of threads where people had purchased the Englander 25-IP. Is there any feed back good or bad about this unit? What have your experiences been with this unit?

My current stove just died catastrophically*, and I am leaning towards the 25-IP as its replacement.


* I was away on a 3 week business trip and I really don't know what happened for sure, but there was some form of fire in the auger tube and the bottom of the hopper is destroyed, Cant get a good answer out of the home parties as to what happened, supposedly there was never any smoke or burning smell and the smoke detectors never went off. There is some form of plastic waxy substance that has completely filled the auger space.

They didn't leave a pellet bag (or part of one) in the hopper did they ?

sounds like a burnback (hopper fire) i cant imagine someone not noticing that going on

@Arnold - That is what i believe happened, or a toy, the kids have manged to slip things into the pellets before.
@stoveguy2esw - Whatever melted in the auger tube prevented what was in the hopper from catching, Thank God!

I did not do enough research the first time around( a mistake that will not happen twice),
I wasn't happy with this stove after getting it (https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/corn-flame-energy-model-3000.75553/#post-956350) but could not find anything else in my price range at the time, I've been saving to replace it anyway, it just forced the issue.

My wife really likes the Look of the 25-ip, and so do I, the only thing I'm really curious about is that I've heard that the 25-ip has a heat exchanger that doesn't seem to pull
as much heat as it could out of the firebox compared to a tube design, and was hoping for some real world feed back on that.

ok, no problem, i appreciate your interest in our stove , im not going to "plug" the stove in here i just build em. i'll let the actual owners comment on the stove

Well we pulled the trigger and ordered the 25-ip from Home Depot, Will post install details when it arrives. Thanks for the inputs.

We have been really happy with this stove, I have no complaints, some people think its a bit loud or at least that the sound of the exhaust blower has a weird whine,
but It hasn't bothered us. We have it on a thermostat and it keeps all but one room of this house ( an addition with no real airflow to the main house) , about 1200 sq feet
nice and warm. It has also been very tolerant of a reduced cleaning cycle due to my schedule this year ( empty ash pan 2x week, vacuum/brush out once every 2 weeks, deep clean every 1.5 ton).

The only thing I suggest if you get one is take the auger out first thing and smooth the edges, ours had some weld spatters along the edge that caused a few auger jams at first till I ran it over a grinder, and
a couple of other guys I know with this stove had the same problem.
Have not had any problems since the auger smoothing.

I would recommend it.
