Hello! - just inherited the stove, and wondering how long it takes to ingnite from cold start-the burn pot is full, and I can see looking through the back air vent that the ignitor is cherry red. - The ignitor doesnt actually extend through the tube so Im wondering how it gets hot enough to ignite the wood pellet?

Air is drawn over the igniter, then through the pellets in pot. Dirty stoves generally take longer to light. Don't really know how long on your stove.

Welcome to the forum
If the stove is clean (from air intake to exhaust termination)
ignition will be 5 to 8 min. (normal)
Some things to look for
Is the burn pot in the right way? Long lip toward the stove door
Is the pot clean and all holes clear?
Most important is the air slider set properly or at least pulled to about 1/2 way to start
Adj with stove warm and is the stove is clean
Manual

if you inherited it then its likely already at the right settings i wouldnt go playing around with the air slider.
My Empress takes about 10 min to start seeing a little flame.
