Question:

I live in an area which places significant restrictions on the construction of new fireplaces, typically requiring an EPA rating for emissions on pre-fab boxes and not allowing the construction of a new masonry box.

Please let me know what manufacturers produce EPA rated boxes, and/or whether there is an option for construction of a new masonry box.

Answer:

There are quite a few companies on this web site (HearthNet) who sell these. Heat n' Glo has one, as does RSF Fireplaces, Wilkening, Travis, etc. These are listed on the products page at hearth.com/prod.html

These are all full pre-fab. There may be some companies that make them with a possible masonry enclosure..try Kozy Heat at www.kozyheat.com
