European pellet prices

Found this article just now that shows the price of pellets at several places in Europe. Use www.xe.com to convert to dollars and don't forget a metric ton is 2200 pounds.

Very interesting. I used the chart for a quick conversion for residential grade wood pellets over the third quarter for the NE U.S. and for Austria and Germany. I want to look at the number more carefully but a few points jump out:

1. Residential pellets are getting pretty "commoditized" (if that's a word) intercontinentally.

2. The difference between prices for generic residential wood pellets in here and in Europe is not all that great.

3. Quality, cost and efficiency of the energy conversion mechanisms (i.e., stoves) may have signfiicance.
