Thanks to many folks on this site I constructed the hearth for our new stove and completed the installation last Friday. I have a question about the support box though - how hot should the portion of the box that sticks out below the ceiling get? I had several small fires over the weekend followed by a short, but hotter, fire last night. The portion of the support box below the ceiling gets pretty hot to the touch, but not so hot that you can't touch it. Just wondering. I used Duravent double-wall stove pipe into a round support box, then double-wall chimney pipe the rest of the way out.

Thanks for any information!
