I need to replace some loose and broken fire bricks in my 16-year-old Quadrafire Isle Royale stove. I have ordered new fire bricks approved for this use, and have them on hand. I'm a novice though -- do I have to use an adhesive to attach the fire bricks to the back of the stove or just use the steel bracket in the stove? Any and all advice will be welcomed.

I think they are just held in by the bracket. Paging Jags for verification.

Just the steel bracket. No adhesive. The light weight pumice style brick needs the ability to expand and contract during the temp cycles.
