After almost 10 yrs of service, my SBI insert is starting to have some fire brick crumbling. The two upright middle bricks are finally needing replacement.
The bricks are the lighter, better insulating, pumice bricks. I am relatively certain the pumice bricks are what was used when it was tested. I'm also certain that it's cheaper to ship with the lower weight.
I am going to buy replacements from my local brickyard because they are cheaper and local. They are the heavier, denser fire clay bricks.
Other than the potentially higher emissions at startup, is there any other reason I shouldn't use the clay bricks?
