Question:

We have a "Franklin wood burning stove" in our family room. We have had it over 20 years, but it is in excellent condition. The question is "Can we put a gas log insert in this stove ?" We have shopped locally in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and, so far, we have been told this cannot be done.

Answer:

If the doors are removed...AND it has a 8" flue....AND the hearth size matches that given in the gas logs...then you can install certain brands of vented gas logs in it. This would be for decorative use only...you won't get much heat from it
