Purchased my new house 2 years ago with the intention to immediately replace the useless double sided fireplace, however life got in the way so I just got around to it finally. Stove is a blue black Jøtul Oslo with 22’ of DuraTech class a pipe and 18” of dvl. The alcove is constructed with steel framing, Durock, lath, and engineered stone veneer. The hearth pad is dyed concrete at 1.5” thick with an overhang to appear as 5.5” thick. Just got around to the first break in fire tonight and am excited to feel the heat of this stove after having the same on at my last house. The first two pics are the original fireplace and the remainder are the current install. The alcove passes through from my formal living room to the family room which the last picture shows.
