Firepot condition - Mt Vernon

Hello,

I have an older Mt Vernon standalone pellet stove. It has a firepot that has seen better years and is in need of TLC. It is gradually getting worse on the edge as shown in the picture. I know it needs repair or swapping out but was wondering how excited I needed to be about getting it done. It appears to be solid with the exception of the top front edge so I am just looking for opinions on whether you all think I can squeeze by for another year as is. I believe I have heard that swapping it out is not too difficult, but I was hoping not to put money that direction right now. I also considered using one of the epoxies designed for stoves and just "rebuilding" the rim. Again, the rest of the pot seems fairly solid ... but the stove is pushing 18 years old I think!

Yes, it has seen better days, but still usable
I would look for a good deal on a new one and order it .
Then, when doing a full cleaning, replace it
I don't think it owes you anything . I do not
feel it is a get-it-done-now situation
