First chimney inspection

basically the first month of burning here with the new jotul f55. Decided to check the pipe and here is what I found at the cap. Fine black powder when I lighly rubbed it all fell off. In the clean out at the bottom of the t there was a very thin layer there as well, and a few bigger crumbs mixed in, sorry I didn't get pics of the clean out. What do you guys think? This is the first year burning with those stove so picking through the stacks <20% moisture.

Looks great, but it's been a real slow month. You did what all new burners should do, that is check the chimney after a month or two of burning. Crap wood and bad burning techniques can gunk up a chimney real quick. Most people can get away with cleaning once a year.

Looks good so far . . . check in another few weeks, especially after the real cold weather comes (if it does in fact arrive this winter.)
