And I did pull the basket out last night and wire wheeled all the carbon buildup off of it... doesnt look new but looks better than it did, cleaned out the holes for igniter and air as well so it breathes better. Neighbor is busy today but hopefully he can make it over to test it out and make sure its working correctly ( as he has one similar )
page is a bit different, guess I overlooked it when I read it as mine is sectioned off.... at #13 it says what cant be burned and has the same list, but I was re reading the other pages looking for it, just didnt register from page 2.... and I was like" This thing needs to tell me what can and cant be burned in it LOL " anyways I see that it can use pellets 1-1/2" long max and 1/4" to 3/8" diameter max.... what diameter is best? Im thinking 3/8" as they will burn longer where 1/4" isnt very much wider than the grate openings?

Ok, tried to fire up the pellet stove today ( put a jumper wire on since I wont be using a thermostat. When plugged in the fan runs. solid green light no heat or blower lights lit ( is this normal ? )
I press ON and heat/blower lights ..light up. But not getting a fire, no heat at the igniter when pulled basket out so I assume its the igniter and ordered a new one ( should be in Thursday ) I figured the eye is good since the sight glass was carboned really bad and igniter just probly burnt itself out with the eye not sensing a flame? surprisingly the igniter is cheap ($20) and the eye ($90)
Reading the manual it really doesnt say anything about the fan running when first plugged in and so Im confused a bit if its normal and the jibberish with priming the auger and all turn on 2 min, off for 5 min should fire in 8 min.... but the stove is never really off, the fan runs continuosly or am I missing something? And yes it is 30 degrees outside and Im trying to fire it up out the garage door to test it.

Since the combustion blower is working, maybe try to manually light it with some starter gel and see if it continues to run ??

Ive been debating where to install the pellet stove, was going to go through the wall in a corner but ultimately decided to just vent it into the fireplace since it will fit in front of it and can remove it in the spring/summer months. Decided to sheetmetal above the primary damper in the firebox and run the pipe up a bit like in the manual and silicone seal it all leaving the secondary damper at the roof open permanently as it is caged ( cap ) when I remove the pellet stove for the season the pipes can just stay inside the fireplace and close up the doors until I need it next season. Figured it the cheapest and simplest to do and I can take it with me if we move without holes in the walls.
Question... since I am venting into the fireplace chimney, can I get away with just using good heavy black stovepipe or steel pipe instead of using the "L" type pipes since the pellet stove will be backed to the fireplace, nothing flammable as its all stone and tile on concrete slab ?

Alrighty... Got the new igniter installed and it works !
I have read where it says to install the new fuse that comes with it which I did after testing the old igniter which was dead, cold as can be even after 2 minutes.
I used my round brushes to clean out the igniter housing, just a little ash inside so wasnt terribly dirty. Anti sieze on the threads before installing. I was able to just reach in on the lower right side and plenty of room to swing a wrench without removing anything. Plugged in the stove and the igniter tip was glowing red
! So, now to get pipes and pellets to get this thing installed soon.
I did notice the igniter was about 1/4" to 3/8" longer than the old one, also it is all stainless steel ( no brass nut ) like the old one. so the igniter is closer to the tip of the nozzle at the basket. The other was so far back you couldnt see it from the nozzle ... guess this is better, it is a Whitfield igniter for this stove.

Picked up a bag of premium hardwood pellets today $4.99 for 40# bag. Took about 30 seconds for it to light, since the auger wasnt primed I just put a handful of pellets in the basket to start. It died down a bit but the auger finally started feeding and kept a nice flame going, threw out some good heat, I let it run about a half hour them shut it down ( was 70 out today ) so now that I tested it out in the garage Im ready to set up the connections in the fireplace so its ready for next season. I cant attach a video, but I was amazed at how fast this lit up with the new igniter, didnt fill the box with smoke like youtube videos show. Pretty flame at about 1/2 damper, high heat/med blower

Wasnt really that much work luckily, more or less just a good cleaning and replacing the igniter. I think Im going to repaint it as the paint is worn off in spots and looked to be burnt off the ash drawer front which I sanded and painted already. But I was excited that it worked properly.
