Wow, just wow! I have to admit I was a little skeptical before buying but I'm sold now. I always enjoy hand splitting and this makes it that much better.
I highly recommend this Axe for you with bad backs especially. Making short work of some cherry and soft maple. Split some white oak too without much more effort

Exactly. Things amazing, but if you got a 3 ft wide round of hardwood and just the fiskars, you better call Rambo or Commando. As long as the rounds aren't too thick or knotty theres nothing better.

Heehee! I had the same reaction a few years ago with my Fiskars splitting axe.

Other than power tools/equipment, the Fiskars X27 and my Hume head hookeroon are my most used tools for firewood processing. If you really want a back saver, try a hookeroon. It will give you another, "wow, just wow!"

36" I have not done but 32" maybe 34" I have. Start at far edge then edge closest to me then work in towards the center doing same thing. Might take 6 shots but all of a sudden it makes that different sound and you know you got it. Always amazed what that thing can do.

I got my Fiskars X27 splitting axe about a month ago. I just took down a 90' locust tree that was about 100 years old. When I went to split the 20" rounds on my 7 ton electric splitter it couldn't do it. I could nibble around the edges and split off 2 and 3" slabs and then attack the main center core finally with the electric splitter. However, I could split the rounds with the X27 if I took my time and found the sweet spot.

I have to agree with begreen, I have an X27 and really like it for popping straight grain rounds apart. With it being a lighter head and the shape it has to it , it works great on stuff like freshly cut Alder. For the larger rounds of stringy knotty wood like the Fir/Hemlock we have on the left coast, a bigger heavier maul seems to work better.... actually, my 3pt hydraulic splitter on the back of the TC-30 seems to work the best on all types of wood.... Lol, I seem to be getting a lot lazier as I get older....

+1. I have been saying this for a while every time someone on here says "X27 can only be used for this or that" and "cannot use it on rounds over X inches". Done 36 inch+ rounds, just do not expect to go at em dead center and the X27 works fantastic.

I have busted big rounds with mine (26" oak a few weeks ago). The X27 took the same number of swings as my 8# maul (I split several rounds with each) on average. But it's a heck of a lot easier to swing for long periods.

It works really well on the stringiest of stuff.......get it to stick and hit the back of it with a sledge

I agree though, it doesn't get swung too often.
