Flue Cleaning ?

I purchased a used Upland 107 this year and love it. The stove is in my cellar conected to a masonary flue going up 2 stoires. I plan on buring around 2 cords of season oak and maple this year. With this type of burn how often should I get my chimmy cleaned ?

Clean the chimney only when it is needed! The only way to tell is to look inside of the chimney. The top will usually be the worse part because the smoke cools on its way out.

Also the word seasoned apparently does not mean the same thing to everyone. What some think is seasoned is not! For example, that oak needs to season much longer than the maple. Be certain of what you have.

Checking the top of the flue ain't easy for me, it's highhh and I don't do heights. I'll need to guess when it is due and call the cleaner.

The wood I burn is oak and maple, all about 1.5 years old.

With that said would it be a fair "assumption" I should be able to go at least 3 or 4 years ( about 5 or 6 cord) of wood before cleaning is require ?

Most people burn 3.5-5 cord a year and would be well advised to sweep once a season. This also allows you to make sure there's no damage or hornet nest or whatever in there. If you're just starting out, you should check mid season if possible to see how you're doing.

Yep, don't be going no 3 or 4 years without an inspection and cleaning, ya hear. Its bad karma. ;-) . Plan on an inspection at least once a year. If your a noob, make it more until you get things figured out. If you can't/don't/won't do it find a reputable sweep in your area to do it for ya.
