flue collar reloation on hearthstone h2?

has anyone here actually done this job? i have to relocate the 7"x5" oval flue collar on my h2. it is on top, and i need it to be on the back. i downloaded the owners manual online... it does have an exploded view, but its not "blueprint quality" ....was hoping someone could tell me what i need to do, will i need any parts...ie, the stone where the flue collar is now......

if anyone knows of a good link to a thread on this, would be helpful too.. - mike

so Mike, you need to remove the flue collar and top stones. Tap them from underneath GENTLY. Then remove the top cast frame, which has 2 10-24 boltsineach corner, threaded into the top through each pillar. After that, you'll need to remove the appropriate stone(s) from the back, and reinstall a new stone there as ewell as the flue collar. Replace top , then recement top stones. The BIG question is weather you can GET the replacement stones you need from Hearthstone.

It may seem silly, but it'll work a lot better if you use their special cwmwnt for the job. It really bonds to the soapstone better than regular furnace cement. Get a 5 lb. tub when you order your stones.

Or just sell it and get a rear vent one... This is NOT an easy job!!

thanks for the feedback....so the stones are only cemented in? ok, what about the curved baffle ...does that have to be removed? i actually got 3 or 4 new stones and a bunch of new parts when i bought stove, plus p/o had already replaced all the inside metal parts on it, so its worth moving the collar. - mike
