flue damper on insert?

i was trying to think of a way to put a flue damper on my hampton insert.has anyone attempted this?the cast iron mantel cover or whatever its called might make it very difficult.
 
That sounds like the correct assessment.
 
why do you think you need a flue damper? do you have a problem with over drafting? That stove has a passive flue baffle system and does not need a flue damper. If you have too much draft, you can place fire brick on top of the baffles to restrict the draft a little.
