FPX Large Hybrid - how do I clean up gap between the surround and the stone and face of the insert?

The face hangs on the surround plate. But, it results in a gap between the surround and the face. Is there a way around this?

Also, my stone is natural and therefore there a irregularities. The surround does not sit flush and there are gaps between the stone and the surround. Is there anything the can be used to clean this look up and take up the space. A thick black gasket rope or such? Maybe some other insulation painted black? Ideas? Thanks.

Lowes, HD, or a flooring store may have metal strips in various colors they use to transition from a ceramic tile floor to another flooring. You may be able to use something like that for the stone gap and black glass rope gasket for the face gap. They have different thicknesses.
