Hi All,
We are about to take the plunge into wood burning fireplaces, with the purchase of a Pacific Energy Neo 1.6.
We are having it professionally installed, and the installer left us with clearance/opening dimensions, etc for us to do the framing and finishing of the face, mantel, etc.
I have never used metal studs before, and this insert is going to be going into an old brick/metal fire box traditional chimney.
Our plan is to build out the width of a 2x4, so that we can drywall the top half (Mount a TV), and put cement board on the bottom half to tile and place a mantel around.
Are there any posts/pictures that would help me to figure how to mix and match the wood for the outer studs and metal for the ones closest to the fireplace where we can't have combustibles?
Here is a picture of the blank canvas we're working with.
