Hi, I have some older Francite firebrick that is the usual light tan in color from I'd like to say the 1970's. Does anyone know what the composition is? More importantly,do they contain any asbestos? Thanks for any info.

I don't know firebrick from shinola. Rick

Ask BB's insurance agent. He's been known to pass a few.

That's right! If he can remember what he ate, maybe we'll be closer to the answer. :wow: Rick

Francite is a brand of hard ceramic, as opposed to soft pumice, firebrick. No asbestos.

Use it.

I guess BB's been talking with his insurance guy. Rick

If I surprise him 11 or 12 more times I can reline the stove.

I could use a few bricks, myself...so surprise him often. :-) Rick
