We have a Franco Belge Monaco Stove which we inherited with our house nearly ten years ago. We had no instructions / information on the stove . The end of November, part of the pipe at the back disintegrated. We can have the pipe repaired, but have now been told the fireplace surround does not meet current building regulations. The stove was fitted at least 14 years ago, there is no evidence on any of the surrounding of scorching / burning!
Because I have to replace the pipe, do I now have to bring the surround up to current building regulations. Seemingly the hearth is ok.
