Yeah I drove by it yesterday. About a 15 acre lot with lots of mixed hardwood tops pushed up. There was a "butt pile" that had several pieces that I can get several rounds from. So I am gonna concentrate on that pile. Mostly different types of oak with some hickory. Probably several cords in that one butt pile.

Alright, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
Looks like a lot of fresh wood, not the punky dead standers I usually take. Oak and Hickory are awesome....also looks like maybe a couple sticks of some type of Maple on top there. Most of the limbs appear to be gone as well. That's gonna speed things up. Some split pics would be cool, when you get that far.... ==c

A couple pieces of firewood there :-).

That there is a nice pile of wood. :)

There are several tree tops all around with some good wood. But tons of leaves on them. So I am gonna stick with these types of piles till the leaves die and fall off. This place really makes me want to have a grapple to just grab and load the stuff and bring home. I cut about 20 rounds this morning since I only had a little while to work.

Mudbug, you definitely hit the jackpot there. This is going to make you one very happy camper.

Get a winch. It's actually FUN to grap a stick from the pile, pull it out in the open, cut, repeat. IT eliminates all that crawling on top of the pile crap.

Nice score.

Don't have a winch. Tried to skid one of the upper ones with a long chain and my truck. But couldn't get enough traction to budge it. I only tried that one, but I can get them down, even if I have to take the tractor over there.

I have been thinking about equipping the tandem axle trailer I have with a winch. Might be the time to put it together.

Awesome score!

I don't mind cutting a pile like that right where it is. Saves some work.

Jeez, you guys have made back east. People just giving away hardwoods!!

If someone timbers their land, they have to get rid of the "trash" somehow. That's where us wood nuts come in.... ==c
But yeah, we're in hardwood heaven. Makes having a small firebox stove feasible; Just load 'er up with some high-grade fuel and she'll go all night.
