FREE Oak Score today -which type???

I saw a CL as today and picked up this free oak:

Is it white oak?

I was driving our minivan today so I grabbed whatever I could; plenty left.

Better than oak IMO. Seasons in one yr split small and single stacked and 90% oaks btu's.

Split some, if it is Norway maple, you are good to go....

Just split some. Granted it wasn't a long round, but it split easily. I remember Norway split easy. Could it possibly be red maple? I ask because I have some red that had similar markings on the inside...

I don't think norway splits easy. If your referring to the curly like structure of the wood, that is found in certain woods, especially maples.

This is Norway maple, your bark looks similar, your wood is darker but that could be the lighting.......

Split and stack it single row, in sun and wind and. I Guarantee it will be ready to burn in September, it burns great, and if you burn it with a piece of red oak and or black locust it is awesome. I love my Norway maple.....

This is the Norway maple from my yard, I split it last march, it is all gone, I love it......

Funny, I has a lot of Norway maple that I burned last year and I loved it! I guess I didn't connect it because the tree guy told me it was oak, and I'm still learning my tree IDs.

I'm actually quite happy, because I have some oak seasoning and if rather have some stuff ready earlier.

Maybe that's why I didn't recognize it. The Norway maple I split last year didn't have the dark heartwood. I agree; great wood!

This is white oak, we don't have a lot of gum up here, I've never seen any and most people I know that cut and burn haven't either.
