Might be moving to MIL's house down the road, and she has a great set up for a Woodstove.
2 Story Gambrel, with a center chimney with 3 flues....all post and beam.
Looks like the old stove took an 8" pipe which she had removed as it was an old smokeshack.
Question is, if I were to put a new stove in there, would I need to run a full liner to the stove, or just run the pipe into the existing hole.
The flue for the woodstove is separate from the other 2.....chimney is smack dab in the center of the house and runs 2 stories.
Also, do they make stoves that have 8" venting....I think my old stove and insert are 6"
Thanks

thinking some of the Blaze King line uses 8"

If the chimney structure meets and NFPA 211 guidelines and passes a Level II inspection then you can legally dump a stove into it. If there are any combustibles within 2" of the chimney structure it wont pass so don't even bother.

Otherwise you need to put in an insulated 6" liner.
