Hello Hearth.com members,
Hoping I can learn from your collective wisdom!
We’re installing new gas fireplace in Southern California in our remodel. Definitely not concerned about heat output, in fact want low heat output or we will never be able to view fireplace. Not particularly concerned about having high-end equipment. Something that looks nice not grand. 30-36” viewing area,.

So first question b-vent or direct vent? It seems b-vent is less efficient (better for low heat output) but fireplace salesmen only pointing me towards more expensive direct vent options. TV is going above fireplace, there will be a mantle and also alcove for TV to sit in.(my husband can not be convinced to place TV anywhere else)

Thoughts on Valor vs Heat & Glo vs Astria? Am I not considering a different option (mid price or lower).

Thanks in advance!
Liz
