I have had to replace the gasket on the loading door of my Woodstock Progress Hybrid a number of times. I thought it might have been the door but I think the problem is that the way the stove is situated I cannot open it all the way. 90 degrees or so. It always seems to come off or begins to fray on the lower area of the door right where it is loaded. So, I think what is happening is that the wood sometimes catches on the gasket as we are loading it. So two different questions. Is all gasket pretty much the same, or does someone make a heavier duty gasket? Also I was thinking about screwing some angle iron in on the door to protect the gasket from being scraped by the wood during loading. Has anyone ever done any modifications like this?

There’s low and high density gaskets. I’m sure Woodstock carries the good stuff.

I don’t think I’d modify the door. Can you scoot the stove out a little more for better clearance?

I think I’d be more careful loading it. Coals might be dropping down when you’re closing the door too.
