Gave the 52i a Two week cleaning today.

I gave my stove a good 2 week cleaning today. Here is what I do.
Used a paint brush and brush it all down into the ash pan. Removed ash pan and medalion and two side plates, removed igniter cover.gave it a good vac with ash vac.removed bottom cover and fan housing cover brushed and vac it all.Took medallion and side covers out side and wire brushed them real good.used a small Allen wrench and poked all the holes clean in the burn pot.cleaned the glass with paper towel and water.Brushed the walls and vac it real good.also vac out igniter compartment. Every ton I do the LBT.Once a year pull out insert and do fines box and clean sensor and intake on bottom.Everyday I scrape burn pot morning and at night.Thing has run flawless for two years now.

My service dept would be out of business if folks actually read their pellet stove manuals and performed service. Slightly off topic, we just got a call from a customer we installed a 220K btu dual feed coal boiler for about 3 years ago.
"My boiler smokes when I light the second burner"
We ask how he has been keeping up with the maintenance as laid out in the manual
"I haven't cleaned it since you installed it, coal doesn't make creosote"
I was on site for this install and original estimate and personally wrote up the sale. I know I opened to manual and read the cleaning instructions with him.
$500 and 3 hours later for a complete cleaning and he was running fine. Baffles, exhaust, etc anywhere from 30-60% closed off.

Yeah I hear you. I always reference the manual for Maintence on my stove , it's just the little tricks they don't tell you about I try and list. I've had a pellet stove for 15 years now and never had to call anyone for service.

When you do the LBT, do you do from bottom up and brush first?

I do basically the same way as you, only after every ton I like to pull the stove out and clean the ESP and the fines box. also the two blower fans I take the covers off and with a soft paintbrush I brush them and vacuum the fins which get quite dirty. the fan on the exhaust tube must be removed to perform this cleaning. incidentally while this fan is removed it's much easier to get at the fines box. then vacuum out the exhaust tube and shove a leafblower up the chimney. put it all back together and stove burns with a smile
