I bartered for a running Husqvarna 55 and a parts 55.
I wanted to see if I could get the parts saw to work - it’s missing quite a few parts. No compression was because of stuck ring on exhaust side. Pulled the jug and freed the ring by soaking with Marvel Mystery Oil and gentle prying. Cleaned carbon out of the piston groove. Piston and cylinder didn’t seem very scored (but I don’t have a trained eye for this). Pretty decent compression by “thumb” gauge.

Here comes the jury rigging....try not to swoon!
Carb is a chinese aftermarket Stihl MS 210 - MS 250 off ebay. Used to win at auction with $4. Now, people have wised up and prices are higher. The H-L-T screws match up perfectly with cover holes.
Breather is a skoal can with foam rubber.
Choke lever is a coat hanger.
On/Off switch is off a computer PS.
Muffler is a metal spice can - Not much noise reduction but wanted a little back pressure. Had to surround it with a hose clamp cuz it blew the top off... yuk yuk.

Runs pretty good after carb tuning. I may just save up for some “authorized” parts! I have to say, Im impressed. I think the muffler is my favorite part.

Soon everyone will want the spice can muffler mod. Then a dual port spice can.

Love it . . .

Impressive. How about using baler string for the pull cord?

What, no duct tape or super glue? Any self respected redneck would have used one or both of those products.

Not super glue. Jb weld.

Love the ingenuity for sure! Nice work and you should start your own aftermarket parts store ;lol! Cheers!

Thanks, guys. I didn't want to be bush league - no way would I use JB weld, super glue or duct tape. This was a professional job of skoal can, coat hanger and spice can. LMAO. Yeah, I can see my parts store reviews...."I ordered a choke lever and got a dayum coat hanger!"

So that means its a 2 for 1 sale cuz it works for both a choke and hanger. What a deal!!!

Just a really tough saw to pull start. Takes a long pull.

LOL. I chain the saw to tree, grab the pull handle and take off running.

Just gotta name that saw Jethro!

2 thumbs up for the ingenious use of a Skoal can, my favorite mod :)

No sheet! A fiddling masterpiece.
