Getting really hard to get new wood into the garage

I typically store about a cord of wood in the unused garage bay under the house, I then typically line up 2-3 cords of hardwood along the driveway to move into the garage as needed. Well since getting nearly 60 inches of snow in under 3 weeks, its looking like I may have a real issue getting firewood into the garage in the near future...

mine is in a shed but with all the snow I can't use my wheelbarrow.

Now using a kids plastic sled, works well but I need twice as many loads

I make it a point to have my paths to my piles and around the piles shoveled every storm. Pain in the butt but I'd rather do that than dig through 5 feet at once.

I have a small (week rack) in the garage and about 4.5 cords along the driveway, I put (2) large tarps on the pile and after every snow fall I know the snow off then take the tarp and flip the rest off back in the driveway (clean it first) I then take the snow blower and send the snow back on its way outa here. This spring I will be building (2) sheds, one for all the crap in the garage and (1) for the wood. The idea is to fit atleast half a seasons wood in the garage then an over flow in the driveway under the new shed.

I like this idea a lot. I'm going to build 3 one cord bins using pallets and bring my wood into the garage next October. Great simple solution for those who have the garage space.

I stack my seasons wood just outside my garage covered with tarps, it stays completely dry all winter long, rain sleet and snow, no problem, the rest of my wood for future years looks exactly like yours, covered in snow......
Also I keep 3 big garbage cans full of splits that are just waiting to go into the stove.....
This system is fool proof......
You just need to develope your own fool proof system.....

I burn just under 2 cords a year, it's more of a hobby than a way of life but I'm totally into learning and burning DRY wood......

My heart goes out to you folks who have been getting slammed with the snow lately....whats gonna happen when all that stuff melts ??....we have some, but not like that, and I know my yard is gonna be wet for quite a while once the warm up starts

Too much time on the road. I didn't keep a path cleared to the second half of the season's wood. There's a 5x10 trailer stacked high with firewood in this pic. See it?

It ain't quite as bad as it looks. I just have to bore a hole in under the tarp and then it's a short toss to the driveway.

I have a attached two car garage that I never have put but one car, so I got room. I stack all the wood I can in there in the late fall and that has worked beautifully. Still need to add more later in the season as I burn 4-5 cords a winter. Not everyone has an attached two car garage though......

Man, that's quite the perspective on living up North. I can understand why people don't want to fool with wood now. Living down south, the wood stove is pure fun. Just a good excuse to own and run chainsaws for the fun of it. And make fires in the house for the fun of practicing primal survival skills. But you guys get to kick back in relative comfort though when it's 100F and 99% humidity down here though.

Sounds good in theory but my garage is only so big and the wife likes to keep her car in half of it.

Another 12+ forecasted for Saturday-Sunday. going to try to dig out that driveway wood before that hits.

Lol, don't do that, we had an old timer 2 weeks ago light his house on fire trying to defrost frozen water pipes using a salamander

We got 2 feet last week, then drifts, and now another foot or so this last week. with rain, frozen rain and days of partial melting in between. These are ice banks that I can't possibly shovel.

Build a woodshed out there.

I still have to deal with clearing a path through the snow, but I'd have to clear that path anyway, at least the wood stays nice and dry in the shed.
