First off this site has been great, and already replaced (or rather added and takes up more time...) from my automobile forums, I've learned a ton on here.

Anyways, I've been researching inserts and I've found that my fireplace is a bit odd shaped with the slopping top wall, and near front damper location. After sketching a few out, but still having to worry about each side being correct, I decided to draw my fireplace out in Google SketchUp. It's a pretty cool program and luckily I'm somewhat decent with photoshop and had some cad experience way back in high school, but for the medium to advance computer savy, it shouldn't be too tough.

Here is the flu location, noted by the small line from the profile of there the insert would be. As you can see from my signature I went with the Lopi Revere and am ordering it shortly. The Lop Freedom fit, but the clearance to the top was 2.5 inches short and I'm not taking off a mantle that took two days of hard work to build. Here also is the fireplace it's going in, this will be more of a formal living room and thus although the plasma is recessed, it won't be on most of the time when the insert is running.

it sure is a great program isn't it... we designed our timberframe in SU and even submitted the SU model to the building dept when applying for a permit everyone loves to see 3D images vs. the standard boring house blueprints

That puts my 15 minute sketch to SHAME. Very nice. I'll post pictures near January or so. Unfortunately I work on a bonus system, and thus have to wait for that check (that I already know the number) is to arrive before dropping the cash on this investment. Depending on how cold/much snow I'll decide if I'll be installing it or waiting till spring. I just had a tri-axle delivered (see this thread) and will be converting my shed that came with the house to a wood shed. We plan to take off the back and one side wall for better air circulation. The shed will fit 7.5 cords filled, here it is the first 3/4 cord split in there.
