Burning my new oslo tonight too. Trying out a couple envi 8 blocks the dealer gave me as a sample. They seem to burn pretty well and thinking of getting a ton as supplement and for something easy for the wife to put on....just not sure if they are worth the cost. I am loving the Oslo so far though.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm certainly no expert, and not quite sure what an envi 8 block is but my manual says to burn nothing but natural wood logs in the Oslo. Are there other options that are safe to burn that Im unaware of?
I've had about ten fires in my Oslo so far this season, I probably only needed three. Just wanted to watch the Oslo work.
looks like my stove last night, unfortunately im away till wednesday, but i hear it suppose to be the coldest day of the week so im sure i'll make up for it! :coolgrin:
Those F400/F500/F600 series stoves sure are sharp looking, now if they would just add a cat and a thermostat to them so they would burn for a long time I'd be all over one! :cheese: My father has a Jutol and I still love the looks of that stove so much I've considered buying one many times, but that thing just doesn't burn very long at all. He's retired and has all the time in the world, so it's a great stove for him. Anyway, great looking stove/fire WB!
Fire looks great! We love our Jotul as well. We had some guests up to the house this past weekend and they kept commenting about how nice the fire looked in the stove.
I've had quite a few burns in ours this season...and I'm still mesmerized when you shut the air down a bit and the flames slowly dance of the secondaries. My wife and I have often turned away from the TV...and just watched the stove for a bit. Also, that self cleaning glass is awesome.

Did the same thing yesterday.. walk in the woods with the blaze orange on (bow season here) and then fired the stove.BrotherBart said:

I suspect the warnings are aimed at wax/sawdust based logs. Many here have used compressed wood in EPA stoves. I tried out a couple of flats of "Bear Bricks" last year, and although they cost more than I'd ever pay to heat the house, they worked fine. I doubt there's anything different about the Jotuls that would prevent using non-wax compressed wood, as long as you don't overload. But I don't have a Jotul or any experience with one.
