That is interesting, I remember we had a thread on this topic a few weeks ago and we were basically guessing how many people burned wood. This gives us come concrete facts.
 
Interesting to see. Just looking at the dark areas of the map, it's kind of deceiving. You might think that's where most of the members here should be from. But then you realize, those dark areas are generally lower population areas and they only reflect the per cent. So, when you look at raw numbers, it's more understandable why you see so many here from areas in the east like NY, NJ, PA, Mass, CT (lighter areas on the map near NE coast)
 
In northern new england especially Maine and VT, there is very little natural gas infrastructure , due to low population density and shallow soils with granite underneath. South NH has most of the population and has deeper soils so there is a lot more natural gas. Up here its a choice between oil, propane or wood. Plus the woods are growing more trees than the are being cut down.
