If anybody ever wondered if the Coshell (coconut shell) charcoal sold by Lowe's is any good, and lives up to the reviews... yes!

Good flavors on the meat and veggies, and definitely burns longer and more evenly than Kingsford (though certainly not 2x as long as some suggest). Using the same amount of charcoal as always, the last batch of veggies that I threw on the Weber -- the batch that usually is half raw because the heat is dying -- ended up half burnt because the heat was longer and stronger than expected. Very impressive!
At $7.99 for 18 lb, it is surely a far better value than Kingsford at $9.99 for 20 lb,
On the other hand, Lowe's has Kingsford this weekend only for just $9.99 for 40 lb, a half-price sale. That deal (running about 3x per summer) is hard to pass on, but if you miss the timing for the bulk buy-in, I highly recommend trying the Coshell.
