[Hearth.com] Guess the pic!

wow, how did that not burn the house down

Guess the pic? Looks like a smoker's throat.

Kinda round, kinda shiny. A left hand thread or spiral.

I'm thinking it might be a chimney.

How about an after shot?

Just lucky I guess. BTW, that pic is from the breech, up, in a straight 6'' rigid liner.
I looked in the stove and saw nice fluffy white ash and started thinking "why all this creo?"
I through a quarter in the breech, went down to an unheated frigid cellar and found, (are you ready?) a rusted-out and gone clean-out door and my quater. 8-/
EDIT to add: it never ignited, thankgod.

We'll have to wait till Feb 9.

haha, man sounds fun!
how thick is that build up? The Pic makes it look like it has only a tennis ball size opening

Aren't they all supposed to look like that?

Tennis ball below, complete eclusion(sp?) on top!
Not even a twinkling star!

These are fantasies of Chimneysweep. His five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

I can see The Kirk . That's the Cape Cod Tunnel Cam.

<>Worm hole to the next dimension??<>

I think I can see O'Neill & Te'alc on their way P98372

<>Man, thats bad.<>

Not to mention SCARY!

It's amazing the quarter made it thru!

This is just the most recent one!
I have pics that make 25 year vets cringe!

Chimney brush ;-P

We need to bookmark this thread. Then every week when the next person asks "when should I clean my flue?" - we could throw up this link and say "a few days before it starts to look like this"

that looks like bill parcells colonoscopy.

Some things are better left unsaid...

How you going to get that out?

I would bet it won't just brush out.

Believe it or not, I've seen worse! But that is terrible. Those are not fun to clean and are not a 10 minute job either.

With stage 3 being the highest, what stage might this be considered?
Might be better to replace the liner.
:coolcheese:

Hi Tom!
That thing looks so bad that you have to think the user had someone looking out for them. If you have one, you should post a pic from an old beehive chimney with no liner at all so folks can see how houses burn down. I saw one once that had pieces the size of softballs built up all around within it.
Here in New England its been a cold one, using more wood that normal. But, cruising along just the same.
I hope all is well there in the Northwest and with you and yours.
Take care. SW

Thanks for the pictures, looking forward to the aftershots. Got me wondering about the status of my chimney now!
