Had a new metal roof installed by the Amish last year. We had issues with water running down the fascia and onto the soffits with the old shingle roof. It is a bit less now but still happening even though the water drips right into the gutters. There is quite a gap between the gutter and the new drip edge. We live in the middle of farm land so rain is horizontal most of the time and it appears to hit the back of the gutter and in this gap which causes it to run down the fascia. I think the simple solution would be to get new gutters and raise them up and behind the drip edge?

My fear is the fascia board is rotting from all those years of water running behind the gutter and a few screws have pulled out. I will have to tackle that if so.

Looks like a good setup already. You could get some clear sealant and seal the crack in between. Make sure it is draining as fast as it should to reduce the splashing. Some water will run off the face/front but there's nothing you can do about that.

Or get a roll of flashing, cut out sections for the brackets, and slide it under the drip edge and over the gutter back wall.

Or use PVC fascia?
