Anybody else have their wife cut theirs? I suppose it’s a me being cheap thing. With a tip, I’m sure it costs around $30 to get a haircut at the local barber shop. I tell my wife that I’d rather spend that $30 taking her out to eat.

I bet there are value meals at McDonald’s that cost that, so it’s not a direct swap, lol, but close enough!

I wear a hat every day, so it’s not a big deal if it gets cut oddly. Not that I’d really care anyway. Hair isn’t a big thing to me.

I actually cut my own hair. Not sure how I feel about letting my wife do it...

I cut my own. Used to cut the Ex's hair also.

I'm the wife that cuts hubby's hair (and I cut my own)....have done it for over 40 years. He also hates to spend the money on
something so simple--but he hates to schedule appointments more! LOL I also used to cut my kids' hair (they're
all grown up now)...it was just easier than rounding up the herd to go somewhere.

I cut my own as well. I got a haircut almost every week for too many years because of work. I only cut mine now when my wife tells me I'm looking to much like a caveman.

I've noticed that when I cut my own hair I'm not real particular about the finished product, though I usually do pretty good. I wear a ball cap most of the time, though

I have used one of these for 40 years, one of the best investments I've ever made.

i went and got a haircut for the first time in 5 years just to get things a little more balanced out. other than that if gets in way just chop it myself. No body around to impress so why bother.

Yes, I had my wife cut mine during covid. We bought a fairly inexpensive rechargeable shaver and I'm still using it. I had a full beard for awhile, and could do them both at the same time myself. The secret for doing it yourself is to go by feel, and go short like 6 mm. Then when done, take a couple of pictures with your phone to see behind. When it is that short you can usually feel the missing parts. Plus if you do the whole thing 4 times you are sure to get it all. I was paying over $30 a month plus tip. Hadto get rid of the full beard though as I never trimmed it and had that mountain man look after 4 weeks.
Edit - had 2mm above but that is just for the edges. 6mm all over.

I tip my head over a garbage can in the basement and buzz it until it won't cut anymore, same as @Whiteknuckler about 1/4"
I don't think it's the $30, but the cost doesn't help. It's more a convenience thing, the hair annoys me, I go downstairs, buzz it off and have a shower. No appointment necessary. Our youngest kid prefers the same treatment (11yrs), sometimes he will help with mine.

I think I know someone who has one of these, or something like it. I guess it's the "cutting your own hair for dummies" version.

I laugh because I recently bought a dog hair vac/grooming kit.
It's sitting in the corner of the living room staring me down.

Go for it! You can always wear a hat.

I cut my own and have feathered bangs, so I do the same thing as you. Every 5 or so years go in for a real cut so the lines for the bangs can be renewed (I actually do a pretty good job, I've been told).

They always tick me off because no matter how much I explain that I don't like a straight cut on the length of the rest (which is down to my mid back), they always forget to give me a rounder shape. I hate the way it feels and lament going for a few months until it has grown enough that I can reshape that part.

I am just to cheap at $20 or more a cut.

I like not having to go. Plus I find no real difference for a 1/4" cut brush but except they do it faster. If you have long hair like a 70's rock band guy, then I guess you go to a "stylist" and pay $120 plus $30 tip like like someone I know.
