Hello everyone this my first post and I need a little help. I am going to purchase a wood stove insert in the very near future and I need some feedback. I am very interested in the Hampton H1200 however have not been able to find any reviews on this stove. I have seen the H1300 and was very impressed with how well it worked. I just want to know if anyone has the H1300 little brother and need to know if it works well. I have a 1200 square foot ranch that I need to heat this winter and I want the stove to be the primary source of heat. I am sick and tired of paying for oil when I can find wood for free on the side of the road. If any of you fine people have any other suggestions for stoves please let me know. Oh one other thing the stove needs to be nice looking that is my wife talking I could care less. I just want it to get the job done.

Factory website said wasn't available until June 08 so you may be the 1st, HI300 won't fit? 1.4 cu. ft. firebox and 18" max log size sounds tight
Yeah that is my big concern that little firebox. I also have not seen the stove up close the store I went to had 4 coming in. I really should take a good look at this thing before I buy. The other reason I wanted to get the smaller H1200 is I didn't want to mess with hearth. You know how it goes so many jobs such little time. Maybe I will just tear it out the hearth and make it a little bigger to accomadate the H1300. I just didn't want to make the living room so hot you couldn't stand to sit in that room.
Regency said they were coming out for August. But from what I hear my guess would be closer to October on the stove. Its the same Stove as the i1200 with just a cast iron front and surround. So if you wanted to get an idea on the stove, ask around about the i1200.
the HI300 firebox is used on more than just that model, find out and take a look (if you haven't already).. .I think you will want it. I can put diagonal pieces up to 21" I think, it really makes a difference in the long run if you go bigger. I don't always have a full box, if you jam it with splits you can't watch the flame action (which is half the fun).
This is a small firebox for CT. It'll work ok as a moderate area heater for evening and weekend burning. I'd get something larger if the desire is 24/7 heat.

I don't have the dimensions with me right now. I do believe the H1300 will fit and the house I live in is only 1200 Sq. foot ranch and the fireplace is at one end of the house. My concern is I don't want to get to much of heater however I do not want to get to little either. I have seen the larger H1300 in action it is an amazing stove.
If the floorplan is somewhat open and you don't mind using a fan on the floor to help distribute the heat to the opposite end of the house, I don't think the HI300 will be too big for your climate. It doesn't have to be run with a full load of wood until it gets cold outside. We have several happy owners using the HI300, it is a nice looking heater.

Thank you I appreciate your assistance Moderator. I am concerned with not running the HI300 at full bore and having to clean the chimney every couple of months. What are your thoughts on that issue.
i have the regency 1200i it is very much like that one you are looking at ...i put it in last year . what kind of fireplace are you putting it into reg or prefab (metal box)?
if it is prefab stay with the 1200i if not you may want bigger...regency also makes a 2400 middle of the road size not as nice looking as the one you are looking at .....Cary

Cary I have a masonary fireplace. I am starting lean to the bigger hampton. I also keep thinking about a Heartstone Homestead mounted on the hearth pad. I keep hearing about the even heat and the long burn times of these stoves. The only downfall of the Homestead is I need to make my hearth larger. There is alot to think about here I need to do more research. Thanks for all of your help. I think I have caught the wood burning bug my wife already thinks I have gone a little crazy.
Creosote in the chimney shouldn't be an issue as long as the wood is dry and you get the stove up to secondary temperature. You can run the stove at high enough temps even with a half load of wood.
