This posting will be edited throughout the day. I cook while the family watches the Macy's Parade, The Dog Show, & It's a Wonderful Life.

To start: I made a Pineapple Coconut Rum Cheesecake last night...picture to come. Turkey with a sage maple rub smoked on the grill. The turkey is completely thawed this year so about 4-5 hours is all it should take to be done.

I am slow cooking a turkey breast in a dutch oven on the trivet top of the Alderlea right now. First try at this, hope it works. I'll know in a few hours. Pies are already out of the oven and orange/cranberry sauce is made. Now working on homegrown Brussel sprouts, rutabagas and potatoes for mashing.

Turkey! With all the Normal Stuff. Smothered with Pineapple. Wife would have been happy with Rabbit (Snowshoe Hair). But "Roger Rabbit" is too Cute in his Winter Coat!

Simple and traditional: roast turkey, home-grown sweet potatoes, bread stuffing with mushrooms and green onions, orange cranberry relish, and green beans. (My menu had been for Brussels sprouts, but fresh were unavailable at the store, and those in the garden aren’t mature yet.). There was also a pear pie, but it was cut before I took a picture.

The stovetop, slow-cooked turkey came out great! I'm so relieved. It was a little risky seeing we haven't done this before. We will do this again. It's easy and freed up oven space. The turkey turned out moist and tender and nicely seasoned from the rub.

When we had the old Earth Stove growing up, my Mom cooked on the top of it all the time. Turkey at Thanksgiving, Roast Beef at Christmas, soups, chili, pot roasts...all sorts of dinners that you would do in a crockpot.
Bringing back memories...

Good memories indeed. It's the first time I tried this, but it won't be the last. The trivet top on the T6 worked perfectly. I would think that other stoves with a convection lid could work well too. With a 250-300º temp it was a bit faster than the crock pot recipe that I tried out. 3 hrs instead of 4. To check I used a meat thermometer to check the turkey breast and that worked well. We definitely will be exploring more recipes.

There was 16 of us (came from a good Polish Catholic family ;) ). so it was always large pots of everything, if not two of them.
Got a craving for chicken soup with Kluski noodles now.
I am guessing if you put a pork shoulder or a beef roast on in the morning by dinner, you will have the best shredded pork or bbq beef.
Might have to try to convince the wifey to put stove in our garage...
