yeah it is running great so I am very happy . now that I have that done keeping up on it won't be as bad as trying to fix the previous owners lack of maintenance. I have the stove feed on 2 and it is pumping great heat, I have never had this before and I am thrilled. Their used to be tons of ash to the point where I would have to empty the ash pan every 10 bags of pellets and constantly open the door and clear the burn pot out or the fire would be smothered. Now it has been burning for about 2 hours and all that is there is about a 1/4 inch of ash on the burn pot.

Congrats, Remember 1/8 " of fly ash insulates to the point that you loose about 1/3 of the heat exchanger efficiency. When you get it where you want you should try it in room temp mode. I find that it keeps the house more stable especially in the extreems (really cold and in shoulder season).

If you can get a magnetic spring thermometer and just stick it to the front grate you can monitor what the stove is doing and even estimate when you need to clean. Just a thought.

new here and a question when you are brushing your air vents on the left and right side of the stove. the right one when you are looking at it goes straight back and the left one goes back and then turns right. If i push the brush all the way in the right tube you are saying i should be able to see it? do you need to remove the heat probe to do that i thought you could damage the probe by brushing the vents with the probe still installed. thanks One more question are you putting your magnetic spring thermometer in front of the exaust fan in front of your stove ?

OK You pull off both of the baffle plates to clean your exhaust vent.

I do a naughty trick and someone here will slap my wrist but here goes.

I keep the door open and turn on the stove during cleaning. Vacumme is never reached so the stove can't lite of feed but the exhaust fan stays on. This keeps all the soot and fly ash out of the house and moving out the exhaust as I'm cleaning.

I then, with the exhaust fan on brush out the exhaust vents Right first then left. The vents meet up well below the fan and any probes. Only when I have finished cleaning the stove do I turn it off.

If I'm pulling the stove out away from the frame then the stove is off and unplugged, same when doing the leafblower trick, but for weekly cleanings the exhaust fan keep the house cleaner.

The magnetic thermometer goes on the left side diamond area. It has the least flow and will be affected most by the stove efficiency.

Yes, There is no power going to the igniter and I only use a Vacuum to suck out the ash and a couple taps on the side. Again wih no vacuume switch made there is no power but if you are worried switch to manual mode that eliminates the igniter too.

the ESP probe should be stick-straight....any deviation would certainly not be ideal.

As for the stove warmer on one side versus the other, thats almost always indicative of a partially, or completely, blocked air tube......I know you unblocked the left one, but is it completely cleaned out?

i did not pull the stove out to clean it this time i thought that you only needed to pull it out after 1 ton burned and only went through 10 bags

Yes, you can clean the tubes without removing the ESP probe. In fact, in the Harman installation manual it lists cleaning the tubes before it mentions cleaning the ESP. In fact, it classifies the tubes as part of monthly cleaning and the ESP for 1 ton cleaning.

You do not need to remove the ESP sensor. The little door on the back allows you access to clean it too. I just use a damp paper towel and wipe it down just do not bend it over and your golden. I do this after I do the Leafblower trick. Just did this today.

Pulled the slide for the pellet door and vacumed that out too.

STEP #4: CLEAN THE ESP PROBE
Using a 5/16†socket or nut driver remove
the tek screw holding the ESP probe (Fig. 14).
Gently remove the probe by pulling it straight out of the
housing; be careful not to bend the probe. The probe can
be cleaned by very gently rubbing off the soot with a green
scrub (Fig. 15), do not use emery cloth or sandpaper. If you don’t
have a scrub use no more than a cloth or paper towel. Do not replace the sensor
until after you have brushed the combustion blower air passage.

These tubes are an important part of the heat
exchanger, efficiency will be lost if they are not
properly maintained and if this step is not performed over a long enough period of time the
exhaust tubes will become clogged causing the stove to operate sluggishly or not at all.
Note: Be sure to brush any soot from side interior panels especially the interior side of the
insert’s front panel where a cast iron ridge may hold soot.
After completing this step, reassemble the cast iron heat exchanger panels into the stove along
with the flame guide and “compass panel.†Reinstall the Thermister (ESP) probe, being careful
not to damage it, using a 5/16†socket or nut driver (same procedure as Fig. 14). Be careful not to
bend or damage the probe in any way.
