Anyone ever have to replace the lid since a lot of stress is placed on the hinge when the lid is all the way opened and just hanging there??

I have not seen any indication of metal stress. I have a hopper extension installed, leaving the primary lid open 24/7/365. Plus, the hopper extension lid construction is very similar and no signs of fatigue.

It's funny you mention this, I was noticing it last night when I went to top it off and it made me wonder.. I told my wife to go easy on it and I think that If we treat it carefully then it will hold up over time.

Time will tell :)

No problem yet.

I added a small arm with a rubber bumper so the lid doesn't hyper extend. The paint on the hinge area kept chipping from hyper extension.
