My probe is low and short to the ground which I do not like. It's cold near the floor and makes the stove turn on more than it should..(false positive readings or is it false negative ?)

Also, is your probe moveable? As in mine is pinched between the hearth and stove >: /

Is your lose, meaning you can easily move it anytime?

That looks really low to me, and looks like it is against the brick/rock, which doesn't help any. I would place it at least waist high, and perhaps higher (experimenting with placement is the only way to find the optimal position). Not having an insert, I couldn't tell you about moveability.

Just as an FYI - My P61a is in the basement and I had to place the probe waist high, forward so that it is even with the front of the stove, and out to the side about 2 ft. This is because the wall behind is concrete brick of the foundation and it would continuously think it was cold even when it was 80-85 in that area. When I brought the probe forward, I had to get it away from the side of the stove, or it thought it was hot. I don't know how cold your brick/rock stays, but you may need to get the probe a bit away from it.

Your installer didn't do you any favors there....next time you have it rolled out to clean I would relocate the probe to the top left corner of that frame.

The probe on my Accentra insert is on a cable about 15' long. I've found it works best positioned about 2' above the stove and out from the wall a few inches. Mine is suspended just below my mantle shelf.

Read a post a while back that suggested leaving the probe alone and just figure out the difference between the temperature you select and the resultant temperature in the room. For instance, if the room temp is four degrees cooler than the set temperature, set the dial four degrees warmer than you want. I usually don't look at the numbers on the dial at all but rather the mark of the dial itself and have learned what position it needs to be in for the stove to maintain the room temp I want.
