Hello forum members. I was hoping somebody could offer me advice.

I was cleaning my Harman XXV and I attempted to remove the combustion blower. I removed the two wingnuts and also the bolt that secures it (it is secured at three points). I tried to twist it counterclockwise, but it won't budge. Can anybody suggest a safe method of freeing it up? Has anyone else encountered this? I notice that the wingnuts look a little rusty, not sure what is going on.

Thanks.

Sorry I missed your post and welcome to the forum! How old is the stove and when was the last time the blower was cleaned? I would suspect that you are battling a seal on the gasket. Mine takes a bit to get it to release away from the gasket but different stove/blower. If I'm having a hard time breaking a seal, I use a 1" putty knife and work it between the gasket and the part to be remove. Usually just takes a gentle pry up.

Hope you have a replacement gasket...

Not sure if there is much in the XXV videos at the Harman site http://www.harmanstoves.com/Owner-Resources/Use-and-Care-Videos/XXV-Pellet-Stove.aspx

Let us know how you make out...

The gaskets stick to the housing and the motor flange.

Remove the nuts and the bolt and wiggle the motor til it comes off.

The gasket it going to be sacrificed in the process, so plan on getting a spare or two plus one to replace the one thats there.

This is a normal "consumable" item

Good luck
