No we don't, but a good headline always gets attention!
I promised a friend of mine - a priest who does amazingly good work, that I would post a note about his program and a link to a little fund raiser he is having online.
Camden, NJ is the murder capital of the USA and a study in poverty and urban blight. Father Jeff, a Jesuit, was sent there to live among the people and create opportunity. He approached gangs hanging on the corner and asked the kids if they had interest in learning about how to make web pages and use graphic programs, etc. - Before long Hopeworks was born and is now a thriving part of the Camden scene.

I worked there as a volunteer for two years teaching the youth video as well as some photography and programming. Alas, when I moved up to New England I had to say goodbye. If you want to view some of the videos we put together (you will laugh) see: (broken link removed)
Anyway, Father Jeff called me the other day to see if I could help get the word out about a summer fund raiser they are doing. I told him that most of the people I know and could influence were either relatively poor or they were in social service themselves, so it might be a tough audience for fund raising!
Still, Father Jeff pressed on...he knows how to get things going! He said that even if a few people bite (It's about $20 to enter this drawing and fundraising thing).....well, they might tell other people, etc. etc. - A real networker he is.....
So, here's the link. If you feel bad about all the hours I am sitting here screwing around with this web site AND if you have an extra $20 in your pocket after you are done with giving to other good causes, please help the youth of Camden rise above the streets by giving at this link:

PS. I can personally attest to the large number of youth who are going on to college and jobs in the technical fields as a result of attending Hopeworks.
