I am trying to figure out the hearth protection pad for my FV46 which is not raised. The manual states that R-1 rating is required. I will be putting a marble slab on the hearth. I am trying to decide between two slabs, one is 3/4" thick and the other is 1 1/4" thick.

The manual recommends use of Micore 300 board 1/2" thick. If I use the 3/4" marble should I layer two Micore boards on top of each other to raise the height? If so, can they just be stacked or does something need to be between them?

Also, the manual states that a metal lath screen can be used on top of the Micore board to attach the marble to it, what are your thoughts on that?

Thank you!
