Hearthstone Clydesdale vs. Kuma Sequoia

I have heated with my sequoia free standing stove for two years now, and I can say it is a heat monster. Mine is in the basement, on days it stays above 30 to 35 it heats my whole house which is 4000 sq feet. I do have a pacific energy summit insert on the first floor we use when it gets real cold, but my heating bills have been about $150 each winter, I have home heating fuel. The sequoia is a great stove very simple to use, just have plenty of dry wood.

For heat output it isnt even a contest.... Sequoia hands down. The hearthstone is a very good insert and a good looking stove as well but if your wanting to heat over 3k sq ft the Clydesdale will probably dissapoint in comparison. I personally like the fact that hearthstone puts a + and - on the air control

i heat my current 3720sqft home with 1800sqft in the basement and 1920sqft on the main floor with a trane 3 ton heat pump with 10kw backup electric strip. All electric including hot water. House is well insulated and has an attatched 2 car garage that is not conditioned. I change 2 20 by 20 by1 filters 3 times a year and clean the condenser coil with dishsoap and water rinsing from the inside out and clean the evap coil with tripple d. Also i fill my condensate pump with bleach twice during the summer and make sure i brush out the ezytrap and blow the pvc portion of the conensate line with compressed air. System is r22( aka liquid gold) that i recharged when i bought the house using subcooling and superheat. (It was overcharged when i moved in) during the heating season the Thermostat stays set to 73 during the days and 71 from 9pm till 7am. Highest electric bill was $248 this winter during a cold snap we had where there were a few days where it was -5 and the system struggled to stay above 70 but never fell below 68. Lowest electric bill was $145. This does include the 30 by 50 detatched garage but generally i only use about $15 worth of electricity out there per month. Normal electric bills tend to be in the $175 range. ITS HARD TO STOP A TRANE..... or so they say. Ide rather have a carrier personally oh and probably a c44 gas insert upstairs right under the wall mount with a heat distribustion kit. House we are building will have a wood insert a fs wood stove and if i get my way a outdoor wood boiler serving the house and some other buildings.
