Hearthstone Equinox Blower Install

Picked up the blower for our Equinox yesterday and installed it. It's super easy. It just hangs on two screws off of the shield bracket. To install the blower you must have the rear shield installed. It's very well made and I had no problems with the install... took about a half hour taking my time.

The first picture with Kia behind the stove.... that's with the stove at 300°
Everything requires kitty inspection.

ps we really liked your startup video. pretty much the same deal with the isle royale. I have to go to coals on most burns or else we get too hot.

It's all fun and games until you suck a kittah up in there..

also.. I didn't even bother to look.. I *assumed* my blower had/has a squirrel cage.. but that one has pancake fans.. hmm...

They aren't the most powerful fans. You don't feel a whole lot up close but step back a few feet and you can really feel the heat getting pushed off of the stove. They aren't real loud either. Not nearly as loud as the Clydesdale insert blowers.

Very quiet.
Heat output is low. Wished it had more powerful fans. You can feel the heat being blown off at about 3 or 4 feet away so it does strip heat but nothing to write home about.
I purchased the setup through my local dealer.

We really like this thing a lot. I think they did their homework in designing it. At first I felt the fans didn't push enough air. Now after having it running all day, we really like the nice warm breeze instead of a constant blast. It's quiet and comfortable.

Yea it's expensive. Looking at what most manufactures charge for optional fans, it's probably $100 more but that includes the huge heat shield, the brackets and the fan assy. I already had the heat shield since I put the stove close to the wall many months ago so springing for the fan assy didn't hurt so bad.

That equinox is one impressive stove. When we went to purchase our lopi liberty at our local hearth dealer, they had on on display. When we walked in I couldn't believe that there was a stove out there that large. I know there was no way I could have one because are house is only 2,400 sq ft and with the liberty its usually 90 and I know that with the equinox it would probably be over 100 degrees in the house and the fact that it had an 8in flue. When I saw the price I just about passed out, but I don't mind paying for a quality item that is going to probably last a lifetime. There is just one thing I don't like about the equinox. The side loading door opens down where I would want it to open to the side. Nice stove install and beautiful home from what I can see from the pictures. Maybe there is some on here, but the next time you have a chance, could you post some pics of a secondary burn. I wish my hearth dealer burned a hearthstone wood stove in there shop because I would really like to feel what the heat is like coming from it.

I only paid 2 grand for the stove. I picked it up used.. New they run $4250. I had to go over it with a wire wheel and repaint. All new door and glass gaskets. I actually love the side door dropping down. It's a place to help lay the end of the wood on and it catches the dirt falling off the splits. There's a plate inside that acts as a strong stop to help it support weight. That plate makes that classic stove door screeching sound you hear when you open it. It also works well when it's cracked open to help start a fire by doing a good job of keeping in embers. I haven't discovered any reasons it's a bad idea. I don't have any good secondary action shots but this is one of the better shots.

I can only imagine how heavy that granite hearth was to move. I would hate to drop a heavy piece of wood on that granite! Ours is sitting on an 8in high handmade oak platform with a 800 pound 4in thick square rock on top of that. It took 6 people to lift and move the rock when we did the install

Update on the blower.

We have noticed significantly more heat throughout the home since installing the blower. It seems like the heat is getting stripped off of the stove at a pretty good rate. Loving it!

That's real nice, the slab caught my attention first. that the blower helping out makes me want one for mine. Great pictures thanks for posting them.

So, how quiet is quiet? Our equinox is in the family room where we watch TV. It does a great job of pumping out the heat, but if we could get it to circulate more, that would be good too. (it's -18 tonight, and has been cold for days and days). Can you give me an idea how quiet it is? Less than a vacuum cleaner, not as much as the dryer? Thanks!
