after months of looking. reading and asking lots of questions on this site the stove is finally in. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. We chose a Homestead model soapstone and had it installed by a pro. He had to do some cutting on the heatilator and a few other things to get it just right. We had a bit less than 15' of flue liner so added an extra 4'. The hearth is raise a bit off the floor but looks good to us - actually, after so long almost anything would be an improvement. We still need to do a cap around the hearth and then attach the wooden mantle and surround to the old brick fireplace. The stove seems to fit the space really well - and the Heritage definitely would have been too much. And now that the burning season is almost over - it is a very nice piece of furniture :coolsmile: I'll figure out pictures and post soon.
