We just got back from a two week vacation to Mexico. When I got home I went to start a fire in our Hearthstone Phoenix and found a little problem. A bird was inside the stove and had torn up the ceramic blanket. Obviously this needs to be replaced.

Where would the best place to purchase a replacement be and how much will it run me?

Is there anything else that may have been damaged and needs to be replaced?

Some of the blankets are generic and you can buy it at good hardware stores from the roll. I have seen the hearthstone Phoenix blanket, it was the first reason I wouldn't buy the phoenix, and it looked much fancier and different than the universal blankets.

First call is your dealer.

Do you really think it needs to be there to burn your stove? You have a baffle plate.

What happened to the bird?

I am not certain if it needs to be there to burn, it sure looks like it does though.

The bird was caught and released.

When we had the second stove installed the chimney, which wasn't used for a very long time, seemed to have contained a bird condo. The stove installers pulled out a full garbage bag of nesting materials.

Just had an opportunity to call the dealer where I purchased the stove. They have the ceramic blanket at $7.50 a foot. So about $15 bucks and I should be good to go. Now I just have to get up the nerve to drive the hour into town.

thanks for you help!

If the standard generic stuff works, I will check out the hardware store in-town here before I drive the hour.

Got a new one from Hearthstone via the local retailer for something like $30. Worth to me just as an added measure of avoiding the top stones cracking.
