Right now on the USSC 8500 I’ve got 658deg door temp 172deg exhaust and 105deg at transition from 4x18 rectangle to 10in round on top of unit blowing air to house registers. I checked temp of heat exchanger by gaining access through side panel and it’s 392deg. How does that work? I got return air at 72deg feeding room fans via 6in round and 12in round hooked to 10x20 box on back of unit with low restriction air filter along with an 8in hooked to panel under control board. Is that how it supposed to be? I ain’t looking to bake a cake or fry chicken on registers but with heat exchanger being that hot it seems it should be blowing hotter than 105deg. Am I missing something? Let me know. Thanks

I have a USSC 6500, so very similar to yours just a little smaller. It also has a glass door. You can see in my pics the door area temp and the plenum temp. Seem similar to yours. My exhaust temp seems to be higher though. Overall, with these don’t blow extremely hot air due to high volume that the room fans move. 2x800cfm blowers is a lot more than the 300-400cfm blower on my other pellet stove. The room air is in contact with the heat exchanger for a much shorter period of time, so less heat transfer.

After reading your post I was curious about my wood furnace
The blower is set to come on when the air in the plenum
is 150 to 160 ::F. So I checked the air leaving the furnace is at 155::F
at the first outlet (register) it is 140 at the end of the run the temp is only 85::F
The loss in temp is the pipes heating up pulling warmth from the air
It is just what I expected. Insulate all the ductwork and see what happens
