Does anyone have any real world experience using these fans? I am wanting to purchase one instead of using the current Ecofan which I am using now. I have used the Ecofan for three years, but now it does not run as fast as it used to. I have read where the Ecofan slows down and can be ruined if your stove temps get too high and now I believe it. I have an Avalon Olympic free stander which sometimes gets up to 650 to 700 degrees. I am thinking the Heatwave can take the higher temps at least that is what the adds say. Is the Heatwave as quiet as the Ecofan?

I have had one for about a year. Works great it does need a higher stove top temp to run, until night time temps get down around 10F I do not get to use it much. It keeps running with stack surface temps down around 300F but it is not moving any real air, it is just turning over.
You do need to put a very little bit of oil, they send enough with the engine to last a few lifetimes, on some of the bushings now and then. You do not want to get any oil on the graphite piston or the glass cylinder, it just gets sticky.
The connection between the connecting rod and the power piston is made with a short length of silicone tube and mine did come off one time.
Very little noise, mine makes just a little ticking sound when the displacer piston gets to the bottom of its stroke, just enough so you can hear it running.
I removed the cover to better see all the parts moving around.
